Equipment Profile
Storm
Service Rigs has built all eight (8) rigs and complementing equipment
with mobility, safety, technology, efficiency, consistency and interchangeability
in mind. This allows for ease and speed of repair, part replacement, and
crew training. Storm personnel have personally supervised the construction
of the main components and has made small but increasingly efficient and
safer modifications to each unit we have built, and continue to build.
Rigs
All
8 rig packages are mobile and have Global Model 600 draw-works; 42 x 10
main drums c/w 40-inch Kobelt assist disc brakes and 7/8-inch drill lines.
A ram saver is installed on the main drum. Each rig is equipped with a
crown saver and two hydraulic winches. For safety, in addition to the
main drum protective guard, we have installed railing on both sides to
prevent crewmembers from entering the area behind the drill drum and raising
ram. All rigs are powered by 60 series Detroit Diesels with rig savers
for the engines (positive shutdown), along with the latest electronic
and computerized engine safety features.
The sandline drums are 38 x 8 c/w 10,000 ft. (3000m) of 1/2 - inch line,
with Electronic Depthometers.
The rigs have 73 ft. (140,000 lb.) freestanding stiff masts with a rated
depth of 9000 ft. (2700m) with 2 7/8” tubing. They have two retractable
climbing devices with mounting plates rated at 5000 lbs. With an updated
monkey board design, the derrick man can egress from the monkey boards
and will not have to get to the derrick first.
The tong rams are mounted on the Derrick and the tongs can be carried
on the rig or on the winch truck. All tubing elevators are rated at 100
ton. Each rig can handle rod equipment from 5/8 in. to 1 in.
Pump Trucks
Each
one-man cab unit is on an identical carrier to the rig units and are equipped
with either a 4 x 5 Gardner Denver TEE, or a SJ 300 5 x 5 pump. They are
complete with a seven valve manifold system, rated at 5000 lbs (35,000
kpa) and are also powered by 60 series Detroit Diesels with rig savers
for the engines (positive shutdown).
Mud Tanks
These
custom built tanks have a capacity of approximately 200 bbls. (32 m3).
There is a back entry to the top of the tanks. The front of each tank
has a manifold system and external gauging. Each is equipped with a man
lift (that works for both compartments) as well as a poor boy degasser
and circulating trough. There are also small sump systems in both compartments
that are linked by external valves, which will eliminate the need for
the vacuum truck operator from going to the top of the tanks the majority
of the time. The tanks are complete with 400 ft of 2-inch line pipe with
safety cables. Windsocks will be used to eliminate the possibility of
static electricity from flags.
Equipment Trucks
All
trucks have been purchased new from the manufacturer. These are T-300
Kenworth Tandem automatics equipped with specially designed decks for
hauling BOPs, matting, handling tools etc. They are powered by C7 Cat
engines complete with a high RPM and positive shutdowns. They will each
carry a 7 1/16 in. 5000 lb. Annular and 7 1/16 in. 5000 lb. Double Gate.
Doghouses
These
units (8 ft. x 32 ft) have 3 compartments and include electric 220 - 3
phase incinerator toilets. Each Doghouse is equipped with electric heat.
The office areas have ample working space for the Rig Manager, Consultant
and required equipment. The rear compartment houses a 40 or 50 kw light
plant and a BOP Class III system (44 gal. capacity; 4 - 11 gal. bottles).
The rig, pump truck, winch truck and doghouse are all equipped with ABS
brakes.
Boilers
Storm
currently has three boilers available. Each boiler has been fully refurbished,
painted, certified and equipped for use; either on Storm rigs or for lease
to third parties. These 40, 50, and 60 hp units are as follows:
| 60 HP |
Reliance Boiler - 3 beam skid, 3150 gallon water tank and 1350
gallon fuel tank |
| 50 HP |
Volcano Boiler - 3 beam skid, 3325 gallon water tank and 1425
gallon fuel tank |
| 40 HP |
Volcano Boiler, - 3 beam skid, 2565 gallon water tank and 855
gallon fuel tank |
